Austria day 4: adrenalina si exhibitio…ceeee???

A zis cineva linistit? Inseamna ca nu l-a cunoscut pe Patrick. Cine e Patrick? Instrutorul nostru de snowboard. S-a nascut in Oetz si nu are in plan sa plece prea curand de acolo. Are 24 de ani si o privire in care citesti din start ca nu e cu toate acasa- asta in cel mai bun sens posibil, sau ma rog, interesant.

After 4 days in # auskia you feel like you’ve done it all. Well, things are not always what they seem, because there’s always a surprise.

For today, we were planning to test the Oetz slopes, a quiet and safe place, ideal for children and families. Did anyone say quiet? It means he did not meet Patrick. Who’s Patrick? Our snowboard monitor for today. He was born and raised in Oetz and he ain’t leaving very soon. He is 24 and you can read in his eyes that he’s a little bit out of his minds…but this, in the best (or interesting) way possible. He is an extreme sports junkie, even if , till now, he has broken every single little bone in his body (it’s not a big deal. it passed! -like he used to say). Anyway, he still refuses to wear a helmet because he can bet that “Kharma’s not a bitch” and that he didn’t do any wrong, so that nothing bad can happen to him. After such an introduction I realised that this day would be a little…different. And so it was! Although not everybody was so excited about Patrick, the truth is that thanks to him, we took our beginner snowboarding experience to the next level and felt the adrenaline flowing through our veins.

He also told us that the fun and the adventure never stop in the Oetztal valley, neither in the the summer. Here you can practice various sports, from climbing to rafting, and if you are brave (or unconscious) enough, even canyoning. Okay, ok, it sounds interesting, but isn’t it very dangerous? That was the first question we had in mind. Patrick has confirmed that it is, but he assured us that if you do the right thing, the risks are minimal: “Obviously, some people died, but absolutely all were found with a huge smile on their face” said Patrick (surely this flower power humor is not even for everyone).

A super cozy hotel, indoor swimming pools, outdoor pools with thermal water, fitness area, saunas, a breathtaking view, everything seemed too good to be true. And somehow this is how it was, considering that the spa’s policy was a little weird: no swimsuits allowed. Yeah, it’s not a joke, nobody cares that you’ve lost your pride falling all day on the slopes, there, in the paradise I’ve been talking about, you have to drop the inhibitions at the entrance, at least in the sauna area. Yeah…I know…it’s not very comfortable to walk around bare naked, especially as it’s a mixed area, but it’s a limit that deserves to be overcome and a spa experience that should not be missed.
