Austria day 3: “foc si papa”

Buna dimineata #auskia!

Good morning #auskia! After a good and very deep sleep (don’t know if I should blame it on the mountain air, or on the muscular soreness) we start fresh the third day of our auskian adventure.
Destination: Obergurgl- Hochgurgl. Here, over 100 km of slopes, reaching the altitude of 3,000 meters, promise to satisfy any skier or snowboarder, whether pro or not. And believe me, they are not lying. This time we divided the gang into two, so that the most experienced ones stayed in Hochgurgl, ehile us, the newcomers, together with our instructor (with a name almost impossible to pronounce), took the bus to Obergurgl (if you do not know, in Austria, public transport is included in the price of the ski pass), to a more accessible slope.

Did I tell you that this snowboarding thing got me real good? It’s already the third day on the board and not just that I started to fall with more style, but I caught some speed and courage, and the feeling is indescribable.

One more thing, the auskians can not be separated for too long from each other, so that the lunch, precisely the Wienerschnietzel and the Weissbier, brought us together again and not anywhere, but at the Hoche Mut Alm restaurant, one of those places that can make you understand one thing: life is beautiful. Because trust me when I say, that view at 2670 meters in the white wild mountains is phenomenal.

Cu alte cuvinte, Gampe Thaya e categoric un must see: aventura, papica buna, atmosfera tiroleza, taclale si hlizeli. Iar restul…restul e istorie.

And maybe you have already noticed that in Austria, phenomenal is at every corner. After all that spoiling and pampering, our hosts thought that there was the perfect time for a taste of adrenaline, so after the dawn they armed us with torches and sent us on a mission: a walk into the unknown wild darkness of the mountains, towards Gampe Thaya. After about 40 minutes of climbing, we were frozen from head to toe, but so happy that we arrived to UrHutte, a traditional hut, where everything that is served is delicious and freshly home made. If you ever get here, do not miss the pancake soup, which is madness and traditional Kaiserschmarn. In other words, Gampe Thaya is definitely a must see: adventure, good foods, tyrolean atmosphere, laughs and giggles. And the rest … the rest is history.
